Car Batteries

April 23, 2014 by admin 7 Comments

Car BatteriesBatteries are a huge part of modern life in Denver and across the country.  I mean, how many battery chargers do you own?

But our purpose here is to talk about your car battery.  When people come into our Denver service center and need a new battery, they’re really not that happy about having to spend the money.  But the fact is that 70 percent of batteries don’t last four years.

There are some things that you can do to extend the life of your battery.  First, keep it clean.  If you see it getting dirty or greasy, let us know at Express Car Care and we can clean it off.  A dirty battery runs hotter and that shortens its life.  If your battery terminals are corroded, let us take a look at that too.  We can clean them, and if the corrosion has gotten into the battery cables, we can replace them.

Also running your battery way down is not good for it:  Things like running the headlights or watching a DVD player when the car is turned off can deeply deplete car batteries.  The typical battery can only take about 10 of those deep cycle depletions before it gives up the ghost.

Because we often take short trips around town with lots of stops for errands, our batteries can end up not getting fully recharged just by driving around.  That also shortens battery life.  You can hook up a good quality automatic battery charger at home from time to time.  We recommend charging once a month during hot months and every three months during cold months.

Now when it’s finally time to get a new battery, we can help you find the right replacement.  We’ll always make sure to meet your manufacturer’s recommendations.  And if you have special needs – like living in a very cold climate or running a lot of electrical accessories, we can look at an upgrade that will give you the power you need.

I think if we use right type of battery then we can extend its life but with this proper maintenance is also important. As all Batteries need a regular check to ensure their proper and effective working order and they can be damaged by various causes like if we let them idle for a very long time or due to overcharging or malfunctioning of its component. We should check and replace battery water and other terminals frequently.

That is good to know that watching a DVD player or running the headlights when the car is turned off can deeply deplete car batteries. I have been wondering how I can keep my car battery in good condition. I will have to make sure to not turn anything on when my car is off. Thank you for the information!

Car battery is an important part of the vehicle which provides power to different electrical components of the vehicle and plays a crucial role in the performance of the vehicle. So, it needs maintenance at a regular interval like other components of the vehicle to ensure continuous power supply to the vehicle. Older battery is problematic in nature and replacement of older battery is really essential. Evaluation of the condition of the battery is really essential and weaker battery or older battery( more than 3-4 year old) should be replaced with suitable substitutes.

I appreciate your suggestion to keep the terminals of the battery clean in order to ensure smoother flow of electrical energy. Extreme temperature of summer and winter has significant effect on the battery. So, suitable initiatives needs to be taken to protect the vehicle from extreme temperature. The condition of the wiring system and other electrical components used in the vehicle needs to be inspected properly and if necessary should be repaired or replaced by experienced automotive professional.

In most cases, the car battery does not last for four years because it’s not well taken cared of. Factors maybe corrosion or sulfation as well as lack of maintenance. In choosing car battery, if you know what you want and what you are looking for, the chance of your battery having a longer service life will increase. That’s if you will take care of it of course.

Battery is an important part of car without which the car can’t start. We should keep the terminals of the battery clean. If the terminals are found to be corroded, then these must be replaced. If the battery is more than four years old, then it’s condition should be checked by performing a volt test and if if it’s condition is not found to be good, then it should be replaced with a new battery. This replacement must be performed by a certified auto professional.
